What I've Been Listening too?

1. One Republic: Good Life
One Republic is back and better than ever! With a newer more anthem pop sound, they offer a unique album that's really just fun to listen to. The Good Life isn't specifically a single yet, but I'm hoping it is. It's fast paced, upbeat and catchy. The lead singer is proven that he isn't a one hit-wonder and it's always a pleasure to hear something new from One Republic.

Listen to it Here

2. Mumm-Ra: She's Got You High
Angelic and just bright. It's very in a vein of the Beatles' classic There She Goes, in which all I imagine is a beautiful girl smiling in the sunlight. Music that takes you to a certain place and makes you imagine something so vibrantly is something that I really like. It's just a special gem that I personally love.

Listen to it Here

3. Jack Penate: Have I Been a Fool?
There is something special about this song- I can't put my finger on it. It's whimsical, and there something just neat about the line, "have I been fool? Just say..." which brings an almost poetic-ness to the song. It's in the film 500 Days of Summer which I def. recommend as a great film to watch.

Listen to it Here

4. Lily Allen: Him
I've slowly started to listen to Lily's sophomore album It's Not Me, It's You- in which I've got to say, I love it. Lily's known for her playful usage of beats and rhythms, as well as her provocative lyrics. Him is a great song, in which Lily has some interesting, insightful, silly, and kinda risque questions, all while playing behind some great music. Genius, Lily, genius.

Listen to it Here

5. Tommy Sparks: She's Got Me Dancing
Damn you catchy iPod songs. It's fun, you can dance to it, and has that retro sound that you can play around your friends and seem cool. Just go with it?

Listen to it Here

6. James Yulli: This Sweet Love
Very much in the realm of retro kind of 60's love song that I just can't help but love. There is something about the opening lines, "Be- be the greatest men in the history, the greatest you can can be, just be..." Thought provoking, sensitive, and almost dream like, I love falling asleep to this song.

Listen to it Here

7. Mr. Hudson Feat. Kanye West: Supernova
Mr. Hudson is awesome! He's behind the scene in a lot of popular songs, songs that I really like, i.e. Kanye's Paranoid, and Jay-Z's Young Forever. Mr. Hudson branches out with his own song, with the help of Kanye. Supernova has a great hip-hop finesse, mixed with a great pop song. Just have a quick listen and you'll be singing along to this one.

Listen to it Here

8. Gary Go: Cover of Lady Gaga's Just Dance
I love cover songs. I don't know why cover songs appeal to me so much, but Gary Go's version of Just Dance could easily be one of my favorite cover songs. From his album, he adds such a solemn tone to the song, and with a few added lyrics/changed lyrics, he makes the fun forget your trouble wild dance party song, became a sad testament to heartbreak, with lines like "I keep dancing but the pain won't die." Have a listen!

9. Lady Gaga: Dance in the Dark
My friend let me borrow Fame Monster. I wasn't a big fan of her work, but she's starting to grow on me. Dance in the Dark is def. one of the highlights of The Fame Monster, and while the meaning of the song is kinda obscure (sexual insecurity mixed with a ode to famous women who have died tragic death? weird, but so gaga) but there it something very catchy about the song, that is trademark Lady Gaga.

Listen to it Here

10. Tally Hall: Cover of the Killer's Smile Like You Mean It
Ha ha, my second cover song. Tally Hall's version of Smile Like you Mean it is what a cover song should be, a celebration of the original song mixed with a new flavor. His version involves an almost gospel appeal, mixed with The Shins type sensibility, it's quite a cover if I do say so myself.

11. Owl City: Saltwater Room
I tried not to like Owl City- I really did. But after looking through the album, I found another song I couldn't stop listening too- Saltwater Room. While probably going to never be a single from the album, there is something very sincere about this song that I can't help but love. I can just imagine an ocean breeze as I listen to this song- even though he sounds just like Ben Gibbard I'll let it slide for this song.

12. Carolina Liar: I'm Not Over It
A great track from their album, Carolina Liar that needs to have a second listening. I hope they continue to make great tracks and don't just become another one hit wondering. There is something dark and edgier about this song that I really like. It's the classic, really it's over between us, but I'm not over it. A feeling we can all relate to, I dare you not to like this one.

Listen to it Here

13. K-OS: I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman
I love Phantom Planet's song California (damn you OC for using it as a theme song). I recently have found K-OS and I love this songs such as Love Song and Sunday Morning. In this one he samples the Planets and it turns to be a really cool song. It gives a totally new appeal to the song, and brought a new kinda texture which I find very cool. I really K-OS for having real meaning in his song and trying to make a statement- which is different from a lot of artist these days.

Song of the Day

Today's song of the day is a cover (I know I need help) but it's Gary Go's version of Lady Gaga's hit Just Dance. It's pretty funny.

Playlist of the Moment

So I seriously sucked last week with the song of the day so I'm starting fresh. To make up for that, here is my current playlist (what I'm listening to) , check it out and tell me what you think. :)

1. Santigold: I'm a Lady
Return of Santigold to my playlist (like she'd really stay off it too long) Santigold is a unique combination of artistic/lyrical merit, catchy earthy tunes, and straight BA attitude. I'm a Lady is just another masterpiece from her self-entitled album, and I recommend this album, because it's just amazing. The song plays off like any Santigold song, smooth and cool.

Check it out the song Here

2. The Temper Trap: Sweet Disposition
Whenever I watch television shows or see a movie I always am ready to pick up on a song that catches my ear. Just this past weekend, I saw 500 Days of Summer, and while the soundtrack boast some noteable songs (such classics by the Pixies, The Smiths and references to Joy Division) this song really caught me because it was such a moving scene in the movie (montage anyone?) but I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it yet. The song is a great background song, and I recommend you listen to this song if you just want to chill out. It's just a beautiful song about the moments in our life that we never forget and I dare you listen to this song and not think of one of those times in your life.

Check out the song Here

3. Cobra Starship: Hot Mess
I turn to Cobra Starship whenever I want something loud, catchy, and in your face. With lines like "She's a hot mess and I'm falling for you" you know this song isn't going to make you ponder any serious moral or ethical questions. But sometimes you just need a song that isn't too serious, sometimes you just want to dance and scream along (badly I might add),and Cobra Starship are masters of this type of songs, and Hot Mess is no different.

Check out the song Here

4. Paolo Nutini: Candy
Paolo Nutini was just a such a delightful surprise when he came on the scene a few years ago. I never know how to categorize Paolo and what his style of music, but I know I like it. Candy is from his latest effort which I'm excited to check out, and it's pretty awesome. Candy is a delightful and quiet song that's just fun to listen to. It make me think of a unique Simon and Garfunkel sound that while seems old, never really seems outdated or out of place.

5. Owl City: Fireflies
This guy sounds like Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie- but that's beside the point. Fireflies is a well written pop song, that just makes you feel all mushy inside. But really, it is a beautiful song that when I hear I can't help but want to feel happy. Does that make me a marshmallow?

Check out the song Here

6. Empire of the Sun: Standing on the Shore
This song is different and that why put it on my list. The song is very dreamlike and always puts me in a pensive mood. But as I have said time and time again on my blog, that's where the true power of music lies, the memories, the emotions that we associate with these songs, and the power that they invoke within us. There is also something I like about the line, "Don't want to talk, all I hear is noise".

Check out the song Here

7. Noisettes: Never Forget You
Noisettes are a cool band (think of a cool jazz singer leading a band). The Noisettes are definitely apart of the movement to bring back the motown 60's sound (and who wouldn't want to, who doesn't love the classic motown feel?) and while I listen to it, it seems to me that this song wouldn't seem out of place even back then. The Noisettes update this sound with a modern attitude that I can't seem to place, but I know I like.

Check out the song Here

8. Matt and Kim: Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare
Matt and Kim (like Santigold) return back to my weekly playlist! Matt and Kim have just been all over the place and I'm excited for you to discover this unique duo and what they have to offer. Matt's voice is a strange combination of, well screaming/talking that would at first seem kind of obnoxious, but his voice fits well the attitude of the music. Always putting a smile on my face, good ol' fashion nightmare always makes me want to sing (aaaaaaaa good o'l fashion nightmare). Pretty much this song is genius.

9. Deftones- Drive
So anyone who has read this blog knows that I am a sucker for cover songs (seriously, it's bad), and while this song came out awhile ago I just discovered it on some trailer for a movie (I can't seem to remember which one it was) and I fell in love with it. There is something just awesome about stripped down 80's songs, for as much as we like to make fun of them because of their hokey-ness and over the top music, dress and attitude, they were still well written songs. Check out Deftones doing I believe it the Car's classic Drive.

Check it out Here

10. Gary Go- Wonderful
There is something always interesting about singer-songwriters. While there is something weird about the line/chorus, Say I'm am Wonderful (a little narcissistic if you ask me) Gary Go composed a wonderful pop song that is great to listen to when you are in the car. There isn't much to say about this song, just enjoy.

Weekly Playlist

Here is my playlist for the week- tell me what you think!

1. Miles Fisher- Cover of the Talking Heads This Must Be the Place
As you know from my other playlist, I love cover songs! Miles Fisher is an up and coming actor/musician who actually has a pretty good voice. His re-working of this song is fun and the video he made for the song is quite memorable. Miles looks just like Christian Bale and he reenacts the cult-classic American Psycho. Fun song, fun video, what's not to like?

Go to Miles Fisher's official website Here

2. Black Eye Peas- I Gotta Feeling
What's not to appreciate about the Black Eye Peas? I've always liked that the band is that it has never allowed itself to be classified into one category- playing off the genres of hip-hop, r & b, pop and dance. Their new single is the number 1 on iTunes right now and I too have caught the fever. This song is just pure fun, and always brings a smile on my face.

Watch the video Here

3. Jenny Lewis- Rise up with Fists
I heart Jenny Lewis. I really do, I love her band Rilo Kiley and I love her solo work. Rise up with Fists was from her first solo album Rabbit Fur Coat, and I can't help but love this song. Filled with witty, ironic and thought provoking lyrics, it's trademark Lewis. My favorite line is "Are you really that pure? I thought I saw you in Vegas and it wasn't pretty but she was (not your wife) but she will wake wealthy, and you will wake up 45". I recommend you check out this gem of a song.

Watch the video Here

4. Weezer- The Good Life
I love Weezer. Plain and simple, when people ask me what some of my favorite bands are I instantly answer with Weezer. Is there something about nerd rockabilly? Perhaps? Is it River Cuomo's ability to string guitar pop melodies with self depreciating yet always clever lyrics? Possibly. Either way, I chose the Good Life because it's from Weezer's odd yet now post-90's masterpiece Pinkerton. The Good Life is classic Weezer, and why can't we just all live the good life?

5. She and Him- Why do you Let me Stay Here?
How cute is Zoey Deschanel? And who knew she could write songs and sing? Well when I heard this song, I was pleasantly surprised by She and Him's Why Do you Let Me Stay Here and I can't but just be happy when I hear this song.

Watch the video Here

6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Heads will Roll
From how cute is Zoey to how freaking badass is Karen O? I mean really, she's just far to cool for the rest of us. Karen O is the lead singer and frontwoman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ( you probably know their most famous single, Maps) but the band has continued to produce interesting and rocking new music since then. Their latest single Heads will Roll continues this string of great music. There is something really raw, something that just rocks about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and this song.

Watch the video Here

7. Silversun Pickups- Panic Switch
Silversun Pickups music always just makes me want to chill out, even on their great up tempo songs. I was a big fan of their first album and was excited to see their new work and they didn't disappoint. Haunting, melodic and hook driven melodies drive home Panic Switch as a great single.

Watch the video Here

8. Noisettes- Cover of The Killer's When you Were Young
My second cover for the week, the Noisette's remind me a lot of Corrine Bailey Rae. A jazzy take on the The Killer's song, it's plays on how a cover should be done- different from the original version, yet it remains truthful to the original version. If you like a more jazz influenced sound, check this cool cover out.

Watch the video here Here

9. Eric Hutchinson- Rock and Roll
Eric Hutchinson performed at my college this past year and he was great! Bringing a very singer-songwriter aesthetic that I always appreciate. Rock and Roll is just a fun- natured song. While there is a great message with the song, it really just makes me want to sing along.

Watch an acoustic version of the song Here

10. Depeche Mode- Wrong
I love Depeche Mode. I have a love for electronica done right, and who does it better than Depeche mode? Wrong is a song that is well, interesting and I didn't like at first, but it has grown on me (something about David saying Wrong like 100+ times is kind of annoying, and kind of unnerving) but nevermind that- the song is pure Depeche Mode and if you've been missing out for the electronic sound, Depeche Mode is back.

Playlist of the Week

Here is the next playlist for the week! Tell me what you think of what I'm listening to this week.

1.Adele- Hometown Glory
Adele's amazing album 19 is a real treat. While Adele single, “Chasing Pavements” stands to be her most well known song, my favorite song from 19 is Hometown Glory. Adele voice is extremely unique and I’m really a big fan of the big movement to bring a more soulful sound to mainstream music (big ups to amazing artist like Alicia Keys, Duffy and Norah Jones for just that). The song itself is extremely beautiful, with a great piano rift and a fun insight into Adele’s mind and the pride she has for where she came from.

Watch the video Here

2.Amy Winehouse- He Can Only Hold Her
Speaking of soulful artist, Amy Winehouse’s album Back in Black is a magnificent album as well. While Winehouse’s personal life is messy, her album is tight, focused and just fun to listen to (I do think super producer Mark Ronson did help with that). In this great track, Amy’s smoky voice sings the blues, and you really feel what she’s saying.

Watch the video Here

3. Phoenix- Too Young
Phoenix is a less well known band but I hope that changes soon. Too Young is a fun song that makes me think of fun times with friends- and that's really the magic of music bringing up emotions and memories. There lies in the universal appeal of music. Take Too Young for just what it is, a delightful pop song.

Watch the video Here

4. Neko Case- Hold On
I heard this amazing song on VM ( I told you that show is a a goldmine of good songs) but that's not the important part. Neko Case is well known artist that really has a style of her own. Hold On is a great haunting song that I when I first heard, I couldn't stop listening to it.

Watch the video Here

5. Michael Jackson ft. Janet Jackson- Scream
I wanted to choose a song for this week that would honor MJ's amazing repertoire of songs so I chose his duet with Janet. Whenever I think of this song I think of the crazy futuristic video and Janet's crazy look. But, I give huge credit to Michael Jackson, I was never a big fan but his music was a unique combination of R&B Motown sensibility with a big pop makeover. Scream may not be his most well known but I recommend giving this song another one over.

Watch the awesome video Here

6. Starfucker- Cover of Cyndi Lauper's Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun
This is my pick for cover song of the week. I really have no idea who Starfucker is, but I caught this cover and I had to have it. Starfucker sound is very in line with indie-rockability and to have fun with Cyndi Lauper's girl anthem, I think it's just a interesting cover.

7. Keane- Nothing in My Way
Keane has an ear for melody. What's so amazing about this band is that there are no guitars! Insane- you listen to any of their songs and you don't even think about it or at least you don't miss it. Nothing in My Way is from their sophomore album Under the Iron Sea and it is a great representation of their music. Great piano driven melody and a great chorus that will get stuck in your head.

Watch the video Here

8. 16 Frames- Back Again
I found this song while looking for some new songs on iTunes. It's just a well written and well crafted song that I think we all can relate to. We all understand a relationship that has got off the track and our desire to bring this relationship back to the way it was. Whether it be about a romantic relationship or just even friendship, the want to bring things back to the way they were is something we all understand.

Watch the video Here

9. Santogold- L.E.S. Artistes
Santogold is another associate of super producer Mark Ronson (I'm a big fan of the guy if you haven't noticed). Santogold brings a type of hipster chick edge to music and was ushered as 2009's version of M.I.A. Santogold voice is super different from everything else out there and she definitely has an ear for music.

Watch the video Here

10. Kings of Leon- Sex on Fire
Kings of Leon exploded on the scene! What really draws me to them is the lead singer's unique voice and paired with great music. Kings of Leon comes off as an extremely intelligent band, assured and well versed in the direction that they want their music to take. Kings of Leon will be around for awhile and I can't wait to hear their next efforts.

Artist Weekly Highlight

Along with weekly playlist I thought it would be fun highlight an artist for the week. For the first week, I chose the amazing Rilo Kiley, headed by indie-music darling and smoky voiced Jenny Lewis. Anyone that knows my taste in music knows that I love Rilo Kiley. I fell in love with Rilo Kiley during their amazing album "More Adventurous" in which the band strings together a beautiful collection of songs that all create a web of insightful, reflective, intelligent, and utterly devastating lyrics and melody. I don't what it is about this band, whether it be the country twang' of the music, the beautiful lyrics, or the charismatic Jenny Lewis, this band just works out. I've stated that I love music that can draw you in, create a story and make you want to be a part of the song. Rilo Kiley does just this, with lyrics that really grab you, and Lewis's voice- you can sense playfulness, childish innocents yet slightly jaded from being hurt by reality.

Rilo Kiley stands to be one of my favorite artist. With such amazing songs as the fun guilty pleasure of Lewis expressing the desire to start a relationship even though it's doomed (Portions for Foxes) in which she states, "Baby your bad news, but I don't care, I like you" to the painful, "Does He Love You" in which she sings about a deteriorating marriage. In the song, Lewis sings the story of a man who continues to write to her, telling her he wants to leave his wife and child, and the wife who didn't really want to get married- "she just felt her time was running out" but had soon learn to accept her life with him and their child. Other great songs include Execution of All Things, Dreamworld, Breakin' Up, Close Call and my personal favorite Sliver Lining. Watch the video for Sliver Lining!

Also, check out Lewis' solo work. My favorite is Rise up with Fists by Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins. Check it out if you like her work on Rilo Kiley.

Music of Veronica Mars

So lately I've been getting tweets about the Veronica Mars movie, or at least fans' attempt to get a movie. I began to think about the show and one of my favorite aspects was the great music. There has been a recent phenomenon of really great and interesting music appearing on television, like Grey's Anatomy and as sad as I like to admit the O.C. So I thought I'd compile a list of songs used on Veronica Mars to celebrate great music from this awesome show. Don't forget to tweet #veronicamars to try and make it a trendy topic.

1.Embrace- Ashes
I made a playlist a few days ago and named one literally called EPIC. That's really what I consider this song. Used on the show at the pivotal moment that sets up the big mystery for season 2 it's a powerful song about inner strength and finding oneself. My favorite part of the song is easily at the end in which he sings, "I sink like a stone, I've lost my control."

Check out their myspace page Here

2.Ivy- Ocean City Girl
I do have to thank Veronica Mars for introducing me to some really great artists that I still follow to this day, Ivy is one of those bands. Extremely melodic, smooth and haunting, Ivy is one of my go to artist when I just want to chill out and listen to some good music. What's really fun about Ocean City Girl is it feels like it's written just for the titular character Veronica. If one knows the show and the story it all just fits in place. Great choice on the part of the music people on VM.

Check out Ivy's Myspace PageHere

3. The Dandy Warhols- We Used to be Friends
I think another strange pleasure of my mine is fast paced and fun songs that are actually not well... happy. (Ex. The Format's First Single). The Dandy Warhols are an awesome band that I recommend checking out. Their hit single We Used to be Friends served as the opening theme for the show and I actually think TV show's themes are really important. We Used to be Friends told you exactly what you were in store for, a hip, super intelligent quasi-noir show.

Check out the opening credits

4. Spoon- I Summon You
I put Spoon in the same category as The Shins and Modest Mouse- wonderfully weird. I thought about choosing their more famous song I Turn My Camera On but I thought I Summon You best represents this delightful weirdness.

Check out Spoon's Myspace Page Here

5. Stereophonics- Dakota
Another epic song- this track is actually included on the VM soundtrack (along with The Dandy Warhols and Ivy so I recommend getting this awesome CD )there is something really different about the singer's voice. An extremely reflective song, it's one of my favorites from the show.

6. The Stills- Still in Love Song
A classic song from the 90's I was super excited when VM used this song. I'm not sure I remember exactly when this song was used but I don't think it matters too much. Still in Love Song is quintessential 90's alternative and I think there is something really exciting about this song.

7. Old 97- The New Kid
Okay another great song that really fit into the show. I don't want to ruin any episodes if you haven't seen the show but it does involve a new character's in Veronica's life that isn't all as what he seems. I think I really enjoy the self depreciating lyrics and the story that it weaves. It's an interesting song that plays a little bit differently than most songs.

8. Tegan and Sara- I Know I Know I Know
Yet another amazing artist I learned through VM. There is something very stripped down about the twins, and about this extremely endearing song. I think what I really like about this song is it captures the sweetness of a faltering relationship and that relationships just fall a part- sometimes for no reason and that even when a relationship is over there is still love.

9. Cotton Mather- My Before and After/ Lily Dreams On
Cotton Mather also appeared in season 1 finale with "Lily Dreams On" but I thought I'd choose My Before and After- performed oddly enough by Paul Rudd (long story) but Cotton Mather exudes indie-type cool. Ha ha I also like the line "I'm reprogrammed like the guy in the Manchuarian Candidate." Also I recommend Lily Dreams On, there is something absolutely beautiful about that song.

10. Pete Yorn- Just Another
Whenever I think of this song I think of VM. Isn't that how you know you chose the right song? I think it's an awesome song that is used actually a couple times throughout the show during Veronica's flashbacks to a more simple times- and this song sums up a time of youth and innocents that's hard to describe.

11. Delays- Long time Coming
What to say about this song? I actually haven't heard too much from the Delays but I do love this song. There is something extremely uplifting about it , that I can't but describe. It's almost a sense of gratification- in a sense that this something that was a long time coming- finally just happened.

12. Notwist- Pick up the Phone
Quiet and haunting- that's how Notwist's Pick up the Phone plays. There is something sad about this song, and whether it just be the slow music (I know I'm a sharp one :) ) but there it just something so melancholy about the this song. The song becomes even more memorable near the end, when the singer begins to sing " Pick up the Phone, and answer me at least" with a sense of defeated urgency I can't help but sympathize with.

13. Mike Doughty- I Hear the Bells
Plain and simple this song always makes me smile. Mike Doughty is a great lyricist in the tradition of many singer song writers but this song is just golden. Mike Doughty celebrates the simple pleasures of life in this song, and he just sounds like he had fun doing it. I also think this song is great way to end the VM playlist.

So that's it- my playlist of favorite songs from one of my favorite television shows Veronica Mars. The music from the show is just as interesting, intelligent, and moving as the show and I hope you not only check out these amazing songs and artists, but the show as well.

My Playlist for the Week

Okay, so I'm a huge fan of music and here goes my first post! I think what I like to do is have a weekly post of my so called "playlist". So here goes my first weekly playlist- I hope you get check out these songs, tell me what you think and what you're listening to.

1. Matt and Kim- Daylight
I think what so special about music is sometimes the reason why we like a certain song isn't clearly tangible. I try to venture out of the top 40 scope and look for music that catches my ear. I've chosen the indie band Matt and Kim and their awesome song Daylight. I think what I really enjoy about the song is the driving piano in the back that just really completes the song. No one out there really sounds like Matt and Kim and I think there is something really unique about their music.

2. Klaxons- Cover of Blackstreet's No Diggity
I'm a huge fan of cover songs done right. No Diggity is one of my favorite songs growing up and to to hear a cover done by the Klaxon's is slightly silly, but it really it just works. There is something really interesting about turning hip-hop songs into pop songs- because really at the heart of music, it all comes from the same place. I definitely recommend this interesting cover.

3. The Ting Tings- We Walk
It took some time but the Ting Tings have really grown on me. I think We Walk is one of my favorites from their album- there is something really just cool about this duo. What I really enjoy about this song is the melody- the song just echoes cool.

4. Weekend Warriors- Take Me to LA
This song has been all over the place! I think there is just something very fun about the tone and lyrics of the song- don't we all wish to get away from our lives? Also the song invokes the images of beautiful sunny California- who doesn't love that?

5. Ben Lee- Cover of Float On By Modest Mouse
Another interesting cover that I really enjoyed. Ben Lee strips down the wonderfully odd Modest Mouse song about hope even during the worst of times. I do love the lyrics " We'll float on" because isn't that the truth? I wish I lived my life to that motto but it's something I'm working on. But Ben Lee also does a great job in bringing a certain sense of refinement to the song.

6. Belanova- Baila Mi Corazon
So I had to include the wacky pop song I'm listening to this week and of course it's in another language. But I think what I really enjoy about the song is the music- it's one of my secret loves electronica/pop. The music is really fun and while I speak not a lick of Spanish the song is super fun. This is definitely the future of pop music.

7. Garbage- Cherry Lips
Okay so this song is a little bit older but as I was making my weekly playlist I thought to myself I haven't heard this in awhile. This gem of a song is something completely different from the rest of the collection of Garbage songs. I think there is something really cool about this song, it makes for a great song to listen to in the car. Go baby go go.

8. Kanye West- Paranoid
I'm actually a big fan of Kanye's pop experiment album. Paranoid plays just like a song from the 80's but totally modernized by Kanye's magical touch. I'm not always the biggest fan of Kanye but everytime I hear this song I just want to get up and dance. Kanye West does have an amazing ear for melody.

9. Mat Kearney- Closer to Love
I love Mat Kearney's music. Closer to Love is the first single off his latest album. Kearney's music always has a effect on me, there is something really powerful about his lyrics. This songs always contain a story and while Kearney's draws to highlight a positive aspect of life by calling on the power of love, it also deals with great loss. There is something in a way moving and at the same time troubling with the line, "We're just one phone call away from our knees".

10. Little Jackie- The World Should Revolve Around Me
What to say about this song? I love the old Motown feel and the lyrics that really just cut to the chase- sometimes we feel maybe the world should revolve around us. Either way, this fun is all about having fun and I promise, you hear this once it will have you singing and laughing.
